EFI für Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 & Threadripper 1950x X399

    Hallo Freunde,


    mir ist ein Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 mit einem 1950x zugelaufen.
    Der Vorbesitzer hattre diese Kombi wohl mal als Hacki mit OC laufen, aber keine EFI mehr.
    Hat jemand rein zufällig diese Kombi?

    Als Besonderheit sollte ich erwähnen, dass mein Board keine UEFI Datenträger bootet, sondern offensichtlich nur legacy (MBR) booten kann.
    Mit Linux soll UEFI wohl gehen, hab aber nichts zuim testen hier.
    Hat hier jemand etwas Passendes? Prinzipiell langt mir ein Catalina - moderner wäre natürlich willkommen.

    was sagt das bios- ist es aktualisierbar, oder ists crippelig wie eine heiße kartoffel und folgebiose haben den umstand verschlimmbessert oder du kannst dann im normalfall nicht mehr zurück?

    die davor ist noch downgradebar-sollte so sein

    edit 2 - ich habe das letzte bios vor der capsule mal geupdatet- ob das so vom biosinternen flasher genommen wird weiß ich natürlich nicht- und- es ist defakto ein efibios-

    Nein, noch ist alles im Rahmen. Der Vorbesitzer meinte zwar, dass er das Bios aktualisiert hatte, aber es war bis gestern noch auf F2, also der allerersten Version.
    Hatte mich daher mal eine Version weiter gewagt um zu schauen, ob das etwas am Verhalten ändert. Es ist also jetzt bei F3J, somit sind noch alle Optionen offen. Geändert hat es nichts, aber ausser Windows bootet es Clover, OC und Linux scheinbar problemlos per UEFI. Dass Windows jetzt legacy booting verlangt stört mich weniger, hatte der Vorbesitzer auch auf Nachfrage bestätigt. War wohl schon immer etwas problematisch.
    Ich könnte also durchaus mal mit einem EFI-Paket herumprobieren. Bei OC komme ich mit den entsprechenden Tools irgendwie nicht klar; gefühlt finde ich mich nicht so zurecht wie im Clover konfigurator und ich hab auch nicht recht den plan wie und wo man da eine Seriennummer eingibt oder den Maschinentyp eingibt.
    Bearbeitet man die config.plist bei OC evtl besser händisch oder gibt es einen guten editor wie damals den clover configurator wo es so nette Masken für die Abschnitte in der config gibt? Den OC-Configurator hab ich mal vor einem Jahr getestet, gefühlt kam der aber gar nicht mit dem Format meiner OC.plists zurecht.
    Bin da leider ein klein wenig ratlos.

    hier noch ne efi zum testen. eigentlich von einem anden mainboard, deshalb usbmapping deaktiviert. hab den amp patch auf deine cpu cores angepasst und alles geupdated.

    the_ace have you found in your bios settings values as 4g/Uefi/CSM?

    if so:

    4G on/yes

    UEFI on/yes

    CSM no/off

    kernel patches are wrong in cores numbers part

    he has a 16 cores cpu (16 c/16 t) so 10 instead 20 in first patches

    fabiosun: Still creating a bootstick, but i know where to turn CSM off and UEFI on. 4G does not seem to be available on this BIOS. Still considering if UEFI or legacy boot is both available.

    if you see UEFI in your bios settings you are fine

    legacy boot is worst to start

    you could also have a mixed situation but UEFI should be your choice

    Your system is a very good system and with a little effort you can install latest OSX if you like

    i have corrected kernel patches for your core count and changed SMBios to MacPro7,1 (if you like to try Big Sur,Monterey/Ventura or Sonoma)

    fabiosun Hecatomb USB stick is created, booting clean in UEFI mode to OC.
    Tired Catalina & Big Sur, but no success yet as you can see in the Picture.
    Maybe there is something wrong set in the BIOS? I will check all options again.


    EDIT: Is there any Serial set in the config.plist? I guess I better check this.
    EDIT #2: Okay, a serial seems to be set.

    welcher Hersteller ist das von der gpu genau?

    AMD BIOS Settings

    • Note: Most of these options may not be present in your firmware, we recommend matching up as closely as possible but don't be too concerned if many of these options are not available in your BIOS


    #Disable

    • Fast Boot
    • Secure Boot
    • Serial/COM Port
    • Parallel Port
    • Compatibility Support Module (CSM) (Must be off in most cases, GPU errors/stalls like gIO are common when this option is enabled)
    • IOMMU

    Special note for 3990X users: macOS currently does not support more than 64 threads in the kernel, and so will kernel panic if it sees more. The 3990X CPU has 128 threads total and so requires half of that disabled. We recommend disabling hyper threading in the BIOS for these situations.

    • Above 4G Decoding (This must be on, if you can't find the option then add npci=0x3000 to boot-args. Do not have both this option and npci enabled at the same time.)

    ich würde auch die letzte version - vor der capsule nehmen-also f12, schon alleine aufgrund der amdspez- agesa usw.- wenn das zu doof ist- kannst du dort immer noch downgraden - wenn da nicht grade deine cpu rausfällt- das passiert ja mitunter bei langen listen - aber da kann ich grade nix zu sehen-sprich das steht dort nicht

    Hecatomb System läuft! Allein das NIC will nicht. Hab mir die AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext heruntergeladen;
    die soll laut docs in S/L/E installiert werden. Allerdings darf ich hier nicht schreiben.
    csrutil möchte aus einem Recovery-System deaktiviert werden (denke das ist hier nötig?).
    Nur in die OC/Kext auf dem Stick kopieren hat natürlich nicht geklappt. -war ja klar.

    Ihr seid super, DANKE! Ich würde sagen, es läuft aktuell alles. Beim Sound stimmt das Portmapping nicht für den Line Out, aber das kann man so einfach nicht fixen, oder? Ansonsten bin ich happy! Gehen auch neuere OS als Catalina mit dieser EFI?

    die zeiten von direktem einfügen in s/l/e sind vorbei- das wäre wie eine op am offenen herzen. der kext-ordner -sowie der eintrag in der config-plist, vom bootloader sind da schonmal geeigneter- falls das system nicht rund läuft hast du damit immer noch die möglichkeit den kext zu deaktivieren. ebenfalls ist so das aktualisieren , nicht nur von kexten, wesentlich einfacher.

    edit-neuere os als catalina-

    im speziellen bei amd, braucht es je nach osx version, entsprechende angepasste patches, das heißt-für jede osx-version brauchst du andere. insofern läuft diese jetzige efi vorraussichtlich nicht mit z.b. monterey
