Hi dkbro,

your Information in System Preferences -> Sound -> Output shows your Philips FTV as a connected HDMI device.
Is this a Computer Monitor or a TV Set?
If it is a TV Set, you should change the the input source there to use the HDMI port, than you would be able to see your desktop and also use your volume control to make the output louder or quieter.
HDMI connected device cannot be controlled via OSX... you have to use the volume control of the device itself.

Or do you miss the output from your onboard Audio Chip?
In that case try to use the attached AppleHDA, which i've extracted from Multibeast 7.5.
