Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen5 AMD Ryzen 7 und Tahoe.

  • fabiosun Since I believe that you are the AMD Ryzentosh expert, I am wondering if you could help me fixing my macOS Tahoe install issue.

macOS Sequoia works really great. It's using NootedRed for driving the AMD Radeon Graphics (2 GB VRAM) and CPU Power Management works as well with AMD Power Gadget on all 8 Cores (AMD Ryzen 7 7730U)

I've added AMFIPass.kext and -lilubetall as well as -amfipassbeta boot-args but as soon as I start the installer, it exits immediately with [EB|LOG:EXITBS:START]

No clue what the issue might be. I've attached the config.plist, maybe you have an idea.

    Thanks

    config.plist

  • ST3R30 You have to update AMD Kernel Patches for Tahoefrom AMD github

Take a look to AMD Kernel patches Max kernel limit you have in this config

  • ST3R30 Are you sure NootedRed kext is updated and working also in Tahoe? in the initial Tahoe betas some problems with it ( i do not use it and i cant be more specific about this)

  • I also have an E15, which is very similar to the E14. Maybe I'll try to update it to Tahoe soon. Then I'll let you know if it worked for me. :)

  • I will deactivate it for installing Tahoe and see if it makes a difference.

I'm a little curious. This in an integrated igpu (such like in Intel CPU's?) in your Thinkpad with Ryzen 7, right? I found it could be an AMD Radeon 680M GPU? Is it supported by macOS in any way?

Ich hab noch drei Patronen, eine für dich und zwei für mich...

  • Yes, it works in VESA mode then, no propertes or boot args required – maybe this works because of all the Kernel Patches for AMD CPUs. But the underlying issue must be something else, The installer keeps crashing late now.

EDIT: I deleted the volume, downloaded the installer again and Tahoe installed without issues.

    Another Laptop done…

PS: I never though that the chances of getting modern AMD laptops to run macOS would be higher than getting 11th gen+ Intel Laptops to work… odd…
