RX 6xxx(XT) Thread, Lieferbarkeit, Kompatibilität, Leistung

  • Apple is all about accelerating tasks they care about in custom silicon. They can run video editing as fast as a GPU with much less power draw.


    The GPU is needed for 3D rendering and generic parallel computing of things they don’t have custom silicon.


    I can see them integrating some FGPA functionality into the mix down the line for stuff they don’t want to use custom silicon.


    Still hoping they are not as far so they still adding support for RDNA2.

    Na ja, veröffentlicht von irgendwelchen Leakern am ersten April und von weiteren abgeschrieben. Wird wohl so oder ähnlich kommen, trotzdem derzeit nur geraten.

    I am very curious to see a run of Puget Davinci Resolve benchmark in a M1 system..with a special observation on temperature during this test.

    Apple Silicon is a "future" great thing if i think of a multipurpose user and software...

    For now..it is a style exercise with good chance to be something better in 2/3 years... (only my opinion no offence at all to M1 owner)

  • My personal experience with M1 has been great so far, tested multiple of them. As long as those special circuitries are utilized, everything works like Apple imagined it to. But if you drive off-road and use this computer more general purpose, you are doing the reality check. Most "benchmarks" are tailored towards Apple Silicon being the greatest thing since the invention of the Turing machine. Final Cut is not a general purpose benchmark, nor is Geek Bench such.


    CPU raw single thread performance of the mini (active cooling) when operating under optimal conditions (all data on-die -> cache) you get circa 20% less performance than on a 10980XE, which is not really a single thread performer.


    I think it is remarkable what Apple has achieved considering the whole package. If I would need a mobile computer, I would know what to buy. So if you use the software it's designed for, you are having a hard time finding a better offering. But the raw compute performance is not "magical" by any stretch, far from it. It's exactly what you would expect from this TDP class on TSMC's N5 node.

  • I think what makes the experience so "magical" (in less technical terms) is the tight integration of software and hardware specifically tailored (and controlled!) by Apple. Of course, that is easier said than done, but if there is a company out there with the resources to pull it off... well, you probably know their name! As a simple end user I will simply proceed to carry on and enjoy Apple's 'Magic' [wech]

  • Schon langsam gezweifelt ob meine Entscheidung falsch war, die VII zu verkaufen und dafür die 6900 XT zu holen... schlussendlich ein "gratis" update ohne was drauf zu zahlen.
